Concussion Awareness

Concussion Awareness Training

Concussion awareness training is now mandatory for all coaches certification.  Coaches can obtain concussion training under one of the following options.

Recommended – NCCP – Making Headway in Sport

This free concussion e-learning module will teach you how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a concussion – and also how to respond. The SCA recommends coaches complete this training for their requirements, as it is also the course that Cheer Canada will also require in the future.

CITs Ages 12 and 13 – CDC Heads Up Course

By the end of the training, you will be prepared to:

  • Explain what a concussion is and the potential consequences of this injury,
  • Identify at least three concussion signs and symptoms,
  • Describe the steps for returning to activity (play and school) after a concussion, and
  • Create a plan for how to help keep athletes safe from concussion.
