The SCA Athlete Council provides athletes with an opportunity to have a voice in the development of cheerleading in Saskatchewan. The council serves as a connection between athletes and the SCA, providing feedback, ideas, and recommendations on programs, events, and initiatives that impact athletes across the province.

Council members meet monthly from September through March and work together on projects designed to enhance the athlete experience. Recent initiatives have included:

Zen Den at Provincials, providing athletes with a quiet space to relax and recharge during competition.

Athlete-focused merchandise ideas and designs.

Feedback on events, programs, and athlete development opportunities.

Promotion of athlete engagement and leadership within the Saskatchewan cheer community.

The Athlete Council is an excellent opportunity for athletes to develop leadership skills, make new connections across the province, and help shape the future of cheerleading in Saskatchewan.

Who We’re Looking For

The Athlete Council is committed to making sure every athlete’s voice is heard. We aim to build a team that reflects the diversity of Saskatchewan’s cheer and performance cheer community.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Variety of Teams – Athletes from all types of SCA member programs: school, all-star, and performance cheer

  • All Age Groups – U16/Junior High, U18/Senior High, and Open/Post-secondary

  • Skill Levels – From beginners to advanced athletes

  • Performance Styles – Cheer, pom, jazz, hip hop, and beyond

  • Inclusive Representation – All genders and identities welcome

  • Across the Province – Athletes from every region of Saskatchewan

  • Big Event Experience – We value voices of athletes who have competed at major events like Nationals or Worlds

While these aren’t strict requirements, we’re building a Council that reflects the full range of experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives in our community. If you’re passionate about cheer and want to make a difference—we want to hear from you!

Before applying, be sure to read the Athlete Council Terms of Reference to learn more about the Council’s mission, responsibilities, and expectations.
