With an outgoing, fun loving personality, Trent brings a friendly approach to instructing his athletes. With a former dance & gymnastic background, he has a major focus on key technical aspects in every area of cheer.

“The best part of coaching is witnessing the progression that every athlete makes. When they walk through the door for their first class or practice, I know all the benefits that they will gain while obtaining new skills as well as confidence. Being a part of their development and growth in life makes each day brand new. Seeing where an athlete begins and where they end up from listening to instruction makes me excited to help them reach their potential.” – Coach Trent

Karissa Johnson

Mental Performance Consultant – Sport Medicine and Science Council of Saskatchewan

Karissa was born and raised in North East Saskatchewan. As a multi-sport athlete, she experienced her fair share of highs and lows in sport. Upon high school graduation, Karissa came across the idea of sport psychology and mental performance and realized, “that’s what was missing.” So, she took it upon herself to become the support person she needed when she was an athlete. Now, Karissa is a PhD Candidate in the College of Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan. Her research focuses on self-compassion, and how it can be a valuable internal resource for young women athletes. Naturally, self-compassion also informs much of Karissa’s consulting approach, where she specializes in working with young women athletes. As a consultant, Karissa has worked with young women from a variety of ages (e.g., 9-40 years old) and sport backgrounds (e.g., ringette, figure skating, volleyball, bob sleigh, cheerleading). Karissa also has experience as a cheer coach, so can understand challenges of, and opportunities to bring mental performance into your role.
