FIRST Sask Cheerleading Athlete Conference.

Athletes, you will be challenged in new ways from skill development, to making new connections to balancing that cheer life balance. This conference will push you to grow as an athlete!
 
Full Weekend Experience – $150
Includes two FULL days of sessions, conference t-shirt, lunch both days and admission to the athlete social

The Saturday Experience – $100
Includes Saturday’s sessions, conference t-shirt, lunch and admission to the athlete social. A perfect option for the performance cheer athletes!

The Sunday Experience – $70

Includes Sunday’s sessions and lunch. A great option for the level 3 cheer athletes!

Level 6/7 Training – $40
Includes the Sunday afternoon level 6/7 stunts, level 7 pyramids and twisting skills and drills sessions. An amazing way for our high level athletes to get involved!
Level 3 Training – $40 – OPEN TO ATHLETES 10+
Includes the Sunday afternoon level 3 stunts, level 3 pyramids and tuck skills and drills sessions. An opporuntiy for the younger athletes to get involved!

The Heritage Inn is our host hotel. The Athlete Social and Sunday morning’s sessions will be hosted in the Hotel’s meeting room.

Guest Presenters

Stephany De Rosa

Stephany has been involved in cheerleading for 22 years. Stephany is a multi-time medalist at the IASF World Championships as both an athlete and coach. Stephany is a well-known Canadian choreographer and has worked with many successful University programs. Her success in choreographing for the IASF International score sheet speaks for itself as she has coached 10 qualifying worlds teams (5 of which made it to the podium for Worlds Globes). She was also a coach for the Team Canada All Girl Premier team in 2019 and 2020. Stephany sees what others may miss and her optimism, technical skills, and talent have brought her to develop her career as a cheer official, working at events across Canada.

Trent Rempel

Trent graduated with his Masters of Physical Therapy from the University of Saskatchewan in 2013. Prior to that, he completed his Bachelor of Science (Physiology) in 2009 and his Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2011. He currently works as a physiotherapist with Donald Physiotherapy in Saskatoon.

He is a University of Saskatchewan Huskies Cheerleading Alumni from 2004-2006 and has been competing with Warman Ultimate Cheerleading as part of their IO6 and IO5 teams in 2017/18, 2018/19, and most recently 2021/22 seasons respectively.

Trent is involved in an ongoing study of biomechanics, rehabilitation, and concussion management. He is an active member of the cheerleading community with teaching, program development, and providing medical coverage at events across the province.

Heather Roberts

Nourish Health and Wellness

Our main focus when working with clients is to help them better understand whole food nutrition. We speak highly about the affects it has on our bodies, our mindset, our overall health and wellness. We also educate our clients about exercise and movement and how it can increase mental health, and overall confidence. We help our clients develop daily routine habits that created a well balanced life.

Session Information

Making Connections - Stephany De Rosa

Stephany will kick our conference off with a keynote presentation focussed on what our weekend is all about!

Positive Affirmations

During this activity, athletes will “drop their colours” and fill their t-shirts with positive affirmations about themselves – creating a visual display they will proudly wear during the weekend as they meet new friends from across the province.

Hip Hop - Heather Roberts

Join Heather for a session that includes choreographed Hip Hop dance movements and combos that teach a variety of hip hop and other street styles. Bring athletic wear, shoes/sneakers and water for this active session.

Layout Drills and Skills – Stephany De Rosa

Stephany will work through layout drills and skills, teaching micro-movements, strength training, techniques and exercises that will help athletes perfect their layouts. Stephany will have coaches to assist in spotting during this session. Bring your athletic clothing, shoes and water for this active session.

Eat Well, Play Hard, Make it Balance - Trent Rempel

Trent will work with athletes on exploring the importance of fueling the mind and body. Athletes will learn how to manage the balance of healthy eating habits, proper hydration, and different types rest and recovery, and how to incororate it all into a healthy lifestyle for success.

When It's Safe to Get Back on the Mat - Trent Rempel

Athletes will learn about injury prevention, injury management, concussion management, and proper strategies to prepare for how to handle injuries when they occur – both physically and mentally. 

Pom - Heather Roberts

Join Heather for a session that includes choreographed pom combos that teach a variety of pom techniques, visual effects and skills. Bring athletic wear, jazz shoes or sneakers and water for this active session.

Level 4/5 Stunts – Stephany De Rosa

Stephany will work through level 4 & 5 skills with stunt groups, presenting ideas on creativity, technique and difficulty that will challenge athletes to work together to acheive new skills. Stephany will be joined by SCA coaches to assist with spotting. Bring your athletic clothing, proper shoes and water for this active session.

Jazz - Heather Roberts

Join Heather for a session that includes choreographed jazz combos that teach a variety of stylized jazz, proper jazz technique and skills. Bring athletic wear, jazz shoes or sneakers and water for this active session.

Level 4/5 Pyramids - Stephany De Rosa

Stephany will work with stunt groups to build an intricate level 4/5 pyramid that will challenge athletes to work together to hit a difficult and creative pyramid in a short amount of time. Stephany will be joined by SCA coaches to assist with spotting. Bring your athletic clothing, proper shoes and water for this active session.

The Cheer Life Balance - Nourish Health and Wellness

In this session athletes will learn how to set achievable goals, how to handle the presures of life balance and the importantce of self-care and mental health.

How the World Sees You - YWCA

Work with the YWCA to learn about building healthy online habits and media literacy. Learn the importance of how external influences and pressures can negatively affect how you can see yourself  and how to rise above. 

Level 3 Stunt - Heather Roberts

Heather will work through level 3 skills with stunt groups, presenting ideas on creativity, technique and difficulty that will challenge athletes to work together to acheive new skills. Heather will be joined by SCA coaches to assist with spotting. Bring your athletic clothing, proper shoes and water for this active session.

Level 6/7 Stunts – Stephany De Rosa

SStephany will work through level 6 & 7 skills with stunt groups, presenting ideas on creativity, technique and difficulty that will challenge athletes to work together to acheive new skills. Twisting Drills and Skills - Stephany De Rosa

Stephany will work through twisting drills and skills, teaching micro-movements, strength training, techniques and exercises that will help athletes perfect their twisitng tumbling skills. Stephany will have coaches to assist in spotting during this session. Bring your athletic clothing, shoes and water for this active session.
