What is Team Sask Hip Hop?

Team Sask Hip Hop is Saskatchewan’s provincial high-performance hip hop team, bringing together talented dancers from across the province to train, perform, and compete at the highest levels of the sport.

The program provides athletes with the opportunity to work alongside dancers from different studios, schools, and communities while developing advanced technical skills, performance quality, teamwork, and leadership. Athletes participate in a series of training camps throughout the season led by experienced provincial coaches and choreographers.

Team Sask Hip Hop competes in the ICU Hip Hop division and may be selected to represent Saskatchewan at national championships. Teams that achieve qualifying standards may also earn the opportunity to represent Canada at the ICU World Cheerleading Championships, competing against the best teams from around the world.

The program is designed for dedicated athletes who are looking to challenge themselves, gain high-performance experience, and proudly represent Saskatchewan on the national and international stage.

Team Canada Hip Hop

The 2025–2026 season marked a historic milestone for Saskatchewan as Team Sask Hip Hop was selected to represent Canada at the ICU World Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Florida. Remarkably, this achievement came in the program’s very first year.

For those unfamiliar with the cheerleading pathway, Team Canada Hip Hop is the highest level of hip hop competition recognized by the International Cheer Union (ICU), the world governing body for cheerleading. Similar to how dancers dream of representing Canada at international dance championships, Team Canada athletes have the opportunity to compete against the best national teams from around the world while proudly wearing the maple leaf.

Selection as Team Canada is based on performance at the Canadian Cheerleading Championships, where teams are evaluated not only against one another, but against the international standards required to compete on the world stage. Earning this designation in our inaugural season is a testament to the talent, dedication, and commitment of Saskatchewan athletes and coaches.

While being selected as Team Canada in our first season was an incredible accomplishment, our goal is not simply to achieve it once. Team Sask Hip Hop was created to provide Saskatchewan dancers with a sustainable high-performance pathway, and we fully expect to continue building a program capable of representing Canada for many years to come.
