First AiD & CPR

All coaches are required to hold valid First Aid and CPR certification (CPR-C with AED) at minimum.

To get a valid First Aid and CPR-C with AED certification, you must take a course with an in-person practical component from a recognized provincial provider. Purely online certifications are not accepted.

Approved Providers & Options in Saskatchewan

St. John Ambulance: Offers provincially compliant Emergency (1-day) and Standard/Intermediate (2-day) First Aid courses including CPR-C and AED at training centers in Regina, Saskatoon, and regional hubs.  St. John Ambulance Canada.

Canadian Red Cross Partners: Delivered via an extensive network of local safety partners across the province. Courses range from Emergency First Aid to the comprehensive 2-day Standard First Aid with CPR Level C and AED. Canadian Red Cross

Lifesaving Society Saskatchewan: Offers standard first aid and resuscitation programs that fully satisfy Saskatchewan OHS Class A workplace regulations. Life Saving Society

Private Safety Training Agencies: Companies like Haztech and local aquatic/safety training centers run regular blended (online theory + in-person practical) or fully in-person classes. 

What to Look For When Booking

Check the level: Ensure the course explicitly lists Standard First Aid (Intermediate) and CPR Level C with AED (which covers adults, children, and infants).

Format: Choose between a 2-day full in-person class or a blended format (online theory followed by a mandatory 8-hour practical classroom session).

Validity: Certifications are generally valid for 3 years under provincial legislation, after which you can take a shorter recertification course if your current card has not yet expired.
