Technical Courses
Technical Coaching Course
The SCA now uses the Cheer Canada Technical Coaching Courses for cheer coach technical education. These replace the former SCA ClassMarker technical exams.
The Cheer Canada Technical Coaching Courses are completed online and asynchronously, allowing coaches to work through the material on their own schedule.
The courses provide coaches with the knowledge and tools needed to safely teach cheer skills at their coaching level.
The Online Cheer Canada Technical Coaching Courses include:
- Technical instruction for teaching skills
- Skill progressions and drills
- Physical literacy
- Biomechanics and body mechanics
NEW COACHES
Coaches must be certified for the highest level they will be coaching.
To become certified at a level, coaches must:
- Complete the applicable Cheer Canada Technical Coaching Course.
- Complete the SCA In-Person Evaluation for that level.
Coaches must complete both requirements before coaching independently at that level.
RECERTIFYING COACHES
When an existing SCA in-person evaluation expires, coaches must:
- Complete the applicable Cheer Canada Technical Coaching Course.
- Complete the SCA In-Person Evaluation for that level.
Advancing to a Higher Level: Coaches wishing to coach at a higher level must complete the applicable Cheer Canada Technical Coaching Course and SCA In-Person Evaluation for the new level before coaching independently, even if their existing lower-level certification has not yet expired.
